It all began after I read a letter to The Straits Times suggesting that Singapore should no longer issue stamps. I thought it was a great story idea to pursue, so I paid the stamp museum a visit and talked to a young collector about this hobby. Tonight, I asked my mum if she still kept my old stamp collection. After a short rummage through the storeroom, we found them, all four albums, a little dusty, but there.
As I flipped through the pages of stamps, I saw myself spending hours arranging and labelling the albums all over again. It’s probably where I acquired my anal streak. The strangest thing was I bought some Singapore stamps when I paid the museum a visit, and lo and behold, I had the same ones in my albums as my favourites! Over a decade since I started my collection, my favourite stamp designs still excited me!
So, today, I’m proud to say that I am a stamp collector again.
