SCI Freshmen Orientation Camp 2006

foctshirtactualfocslippersfoctshirt-1

The t-shirt was given to all the students who joined the camp and was printed on sports-friendly material as the students were expected to be having a lot of activities under the hot weather. An element of customisation was also added to the back of the t-shirt so that the students, who were all new to one another, could more easily distinguish themselves.

The bottom left corner is a illustration of the gift, one side of an over-sized slipper that alluded to the fairy tale of Cinderella, that each student received to entice them to join the camp. It was enclosed in a brown paper bag that contextualised the gift in case people found it offensive to receive a slipper. The paper bag also doubled up as a container for sponsor advertisments.

outsight aka WKWSCI Showcase

outsight

An exhibition space outside the Lee Foundation Lecture Theatre of WKWSCI exclusively for SCI students to exhibit their visual works for free. After proposing the school to set it up, my friends and I set out curating photojournalism works, graphic art as well as photo works from students and from class assignments. We held four two-week long exhibitions throughout the first semester of 2008/2009.

You can find out more about the space here.

Name card

identity-process

dsc_0145This is a personal name card I created including a book on the creation process. I was heavily inspired by vector graphics and I unwittingly created a “logo” for myself — the pen and pencil in a cup — after much experimentation.

The project made me realise how I was actually creating a visual identity for myself through interrogation, profiling and targeting and that inspired the narrative of the book. The A5-size book mimics a military field guide on “identity deconstruction”, a process I used to create my name card.

The final card was a 9 x 5 cm card printed on Zeta (Micro) paper while the process book’s cover was printed on Zeta (N/Linen) paper.
